Truth Squad tackles presidential primary ads

Leading up to what could prove a pivotal Michigan Republican presidential primary, the Michigan Truth Squad, another project of the Center for Michigan, is  hard at work assessing the claims in various campaign ads and materials from the leading candidates and their political allies.

See what fouls have been called on the bids by Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum and others:

* Mitt Romney is touting his auto credentials and his command of auto economics. See what the Michigan Truth Squad has to say about the presidential hopeful's statements.

* Rick Santorum also is getting moral support from a super PAC, the Red White and Blue Fund. It has financed an ad asking voters to trust in Santorum's credentials. Can voters trust in the ad's claims? The Michigan Truth Squad checks out the evidence.

* Rick Santorum's campaign uses a variation of paint ball (mud ball?) to go after GOP foe Mitt Romney in advance of the Feb. 28 Michigan primary. Did the Michigan Truth Squad find the Santorum effort too muddy?

* The Michigan Truth Squad continues its analysis of campaign ads in the Michigan presidential primary. The subject this time is a pro-Romney super PAC's critique of Rick Santorum. See if the MTS called a foul on Restore Our Future.

* The Michigan Truth Squad takes a look at Gov. Rick Snyder's written endorsement of Mitt Romney in next week's Michigan presidential primary.
